Experience the Coast
Laid back and pleasure packed, the Sunshine Coast is many things to many people - 2400 hours of annual sunshine, and a slower paced lifestyle; myriad offerings of water sports - scuba diving, sailing, fishing, kayaking, canoeing and swimming; as well as opportunities to golf, hike, cycle, snowshoe, bird watch and beach comb. Here are some of our favourite's...

Hiking, Biking, and Golfing
Numerous, nearby hiking trails provide the choice to walk through a secluded old growth forest, marshland bird sanctuaries, or an alpine meadow.
Bring your mountain bike, or rent a Brodie Cyclone at our local bike shop. The Sunshine Coast is riddled with remote logging roads, and a rapidly expanding network of mountain biking trails, waiting to test your skills - beginner or advanced.
Golf on the Sunshine Coast is an amazing experience. Towering firs and cedars line courses, overlooking beautiful ocean vistas and breathtaking mountain ranges. Rolling hills and sloping greens make for challenging play.
Kayaking and Aboriginal History
Coracle Cove is located on the waterfront of Sechelt Inlet, a Kayaker's paradise for both the first-timer, or the seasoned expert. Sechelt Inlet is protected from wind and waves by high surrounding mountains. Mornings and evenings are typically calm and peaceful with lush green mountains reflecting off of the tranquil blue ocean surface.
There are three nearby kayak rental businesses
Talaysay Tours is owned by Candace Campo, a Sechelt Native and operates out of nearby Porpoise Bay Provincial Park. Candace is well versed in the vibrant history of her shishalth people and her stories will bring you a deeper understanding of the West Coast. Her people have sustained themselves since time immemorial, living on the natural resources provided by the land and sea, developing a complex relationship with this rich coastal environment.
Halmoon Sea Kayaks is a well established kayak business and has recently set up rentals beside the Government Wharf in Porpose Bay. Halfmoon Sea Kayaks offer a variety of tours from both Sechelt Inlet and Secret Cove on Georgia Straight. They also sponsor a weekly "Paddler's Challenge" allowing participants to explore, in a group setting, a variety of waters on the Sunshine Coast.
Pedals & Paddles has been in business since 1991. With their location at Tillicum Bay Marina, 8 km north of Sechelt, paddlers get a head start if they wish to explore the upper part of Sechelt Inlet, with its many Marine Wilderness Beach Parks. These are are world-class, offering warm swimming beaches, mountain streams, fire rings, outhouses, cleared tenting areas and tent-pads.
Cultural Experiences
The tranquil environment of the Sunshine Coast has attracted a large population of musicians, writers, artists, and craftspeople, each adding to the rich tapestry of our community. Many artisans welcome visitors to their tucked-away studios. Follow the purple banners along Highway 101 for a delightful self-guided Sunshine Coast art studio experience.
Each year a bounty of fabulous festivals is celebrated from folksy, funky fairs such as Creek Daze in Roberts Creek to one that has garnered an international reputation, Sechelt's Festival of the Written Arts. Jazz Festivals take place in both the Spring and Fall and a Classical Music concert series is available throughout the year.
Having lived here for 30 years, we know the Sunshine Coast very well. Our local knowledge, together with the close working relationships we've developed with our tourism partners, helps us provide our guests with unique and memorable experiences.
